Obviously, object particles are used to mark the objects in a sentence. Or, in other words, they are used to indicate the objects in a particular sentence. This is the answer to the question, what exactly are the object particles?

Now we can move on to the next question, how many object-making particles are there in Korean? Well, this is simple, and there is only one object-making particle in Korean. What are they? The object-making particle in the Korean language is,
을 or 를.

What is their difference? The difference between 을 and 를 is,

을 is used when the object word in the sentence ends with a consonant.

For example, - I am eating Bread

In this sentence, Bread is the object. The Korean word for Bread is 빵. In this word, 빵, it ends with a consonant 'ㅇ'. So we'll use 을 .

So our sentence in Korean will be like,

나는 빵을 먹고있어요. (na-neun ppang-eul meog-go-its-eo-yo)

And now the next one, 를. Obviously, this is used when the object word in the sentence ends with a vowel. For example,

I am drinking Coffee. - In this sentence, Coffee is the object and the Korean word for Coffee is 커피. See, here the object word Coffee 커피 ends with a vowel, and so we use 를. And our sentence will be like,

나는 커피를 마시고있어요. (na-neun Keo-Pi-reul ma-si-go-its-eo-yo)

See, it's just a piece of cake!!

Let's find more examples. I am giving you a work!! Find object particles in sentences (English) translate them into Korean and mark the object in that sentence. Also, find which one should be used to mark the objects (을or 를). By doing so, you'll learn new words in Korean and also frame sentences in Korean. It's great, isn't it? Let's learn together.

I'll give you some examples here,

  • Please read this Chapter - 이 장을 읽으세요.
