Location in Korean
Hi,
It's been a week since we met, right? So...I was busy with some stuff...and, now I'm back with another chapter today!
Before we start, I have to tell you that, this topic is suggested by one of my readers in the previous post, and I'm dedicating this post to that particular reader of mine. And, if you're feeling like suggesting a topic for me, or if you think I should do a post on a particular topic for you, please do leave a comment below or contact me through the contact form down there under the post! So, see you there!!!
So, let's start our chapter and I assure you that, by the end of this chapter, you'll learn to ask and answer locations in Korean. I had done a post on question words, and if you haven't read it yet, make sure to read, Okay? Yes!
Locations in Korean
See, when we tell the location of something, we always use either in front of, above, right side or in the back, under, left side, etc. These are the Korean terms for those location indicators. Let's see how it is used in sentences.
- κ°λ°©μ΄ νμ μμ μλ€ - The bag is on the table (gabangi takja wie ittda)
- κ°λ°©μ΄ ν μ΄λΈ μλμ μλ€ - The bag is under the table (gabangi teibeul arae ittda)
- κ°λ°©μ ν μ΄λΈμ μ€λ₯Έμͺ½μ μλ€ - The bag is on the right side of the table (gabangeun teibeului oreunjjoke ittda)
- κ°λ°©μ ν μ΄λΈμ μΌμͺ½μ μλ€ - The bag is on the left side of the table (gabangeun teibeului oenjjoke ittda)
- λμκ΄μ νκ΅ μμ μλ€ - The library is in front of the school (doseogwaneun haggyo ape ittda)
- μ΄λμ₯μ νκ΅ λ€μͺ½μ μλ€ - The playground is at the back of the school (undongjangeun haggyo dwijjoke ittda)
Let's look at another example.
Q. μ°μ²΄κ΅μ΄ μ΄λμ μμ΄μ? Where is the post office? (uchegooki eodie isseoyo?)
A. μν μμ μμ΄μ. It is next to the bank. (eunhaeng yeope isseoyo)Q. νκ΅μ΄ μ±
μ΄ μ΄λμ μμ΄μ? Where is the Korean book? (hangookeo chaegi eodie isseoyo?)
A. κ°λ°© μμ μμ΄μ. It is in the bag. (gabang ane isseoyo)
See, this is just a piece of cake. All you have to do is just to memorize the terms like μ, μλ, μ€λ₯Έμͺ½, μΌμͺ½, μ, λ€, μ, μ. etc and practice by making sentences on your own. I know it is difficult, but practicing is the only way to perfection.
